Prime Life Awakened: Finding Strength, Stillness, and Purpose After Loss. As 2025 comes to a close, I feel called to pause, not to rush into reflection, but to simply be present. This year was not gentle. It was stretching, sobering, and deeply transformative. In less than six months, I lost my sister, my auntie, and two sisters-in-law. Four special women. Four lives that mattered. Four reminders that time is not promised and tomorrow is never guaranteed.
Grief has a way of stripping away the unnecessary. It quiets the noise and brings what matters most into sharp focus. It teaches lessons we never ask for.
I am not a doctor or a clinical professional. I am a spirited baby boomer, a woman who has lived long enough to know that wisdom often comes wrapped in hardship. I call myself a Holistic Alchemist because I believe healing happens when we blend research, lived experience, intuition, and intention. And in 2025, life refined me in ways no book ever could.
Embracing Prime Life: It’s Not About Age, It’s About Awareness
For years, we’ve been conditioned to believe that getting older means slowing down, shrinking our expectations, or quietly stepping aside. But this year taught me something different:
Prime Life is not about age; it’s about awareness.
Awareness that life is precious.
Awareness that health is not automatic.
Awareness that how we live today truly matters.
Loss forces us to ask honest questions:
Am I living on purpose?
Am I taking care of myself?
Am I cherishing the people I love while I still can?
Prime Life begins when we stop postponing joy and start living with intention.
What Death Taught Me About Living Fully
In the midst of grief, I wrote a piece titled Cherish Every Moment. It came from my heart, not my head, and it reflects what this season pressed into me:
Cherish Every Moment
Over the years, I’ve realized that life is brief and death is certain.
The things we own stay behind when we’re gone, but the memories we create live on.
We have only one lifetime to live, so rather than complaining, gossiping, or holding onto jealousy, resentment, or blame, let us truly cherish every moment spent with family, loved ones, and friends.
In the end, it’s not possessions but cherished moments and memories that hold true value.
Live fully, celebrate often, and embrace the present—because tomorrow is never promised.
Those words now guide how I approach anti-inflammatory living, because inflammation isn’t just physical. It shows up as chronic stress, unresolved grief, constant urgency, and emotional overload. Healing requires tending to the whole person, body, mind, and spirit.
Fasting and Anti-Inflammatory Living: Creating Space to Heal
This year, fasting became less about structure and more about stillness. It gave my body space to rest and reset during a time when my heart was heavy.
I’ve learned that fasting mirrors life. There are times to pause, times to nourish, and times to let go. The body is remarkably intelligent when we stop overriding it with constant input.
Fasting taught me patience. It reminded me that healing doesn’t come from force—it comes from allowing.
Food as Nourishment, Not Noise
Grief changed how I relate to food. Instead of using it as a distraction or comfort, I began choosing foods that support calm, reduce inflammation, and stabilize energy.
Food became information, not judgment.
Nourishment, not punishment.
Intention, not perfection.
Small, consistent choices of real food, fewer ultra-processed ingredients, and more mindful eating made a noticeable difference in how I felt physically and emotionally.
Movement After 50: A Commitment to Staying Well
In Prime Life, movement isn’t about chasing a number on the scale. It’s about preserving strength, mobility, and independence.
Walking became my grounding.
Stretching became my release.
Strength training became my insurance for the future.
Movement whispered a quiet but powerful message to my body: I plan to stay. I plan to live.
Mindset: The Missing Piece in Healing
If 2025 taught me anything, it’s that you cannot heal the body while ignoring the heart.
Stress, bitterness, fear, and unprocessed grief inflame us just as much as sugar and refined carbs. Learning to slow down, protect my peace, and give myself grace became essential.
Mindset is where Prime Life truly begins.
Carrying Wisdom and Intention Into 2026
As I look ahead, I’m not setting rigid resolutions. I’m choosing intentions rooted in grace:
- To cherish people while they’re here
- To listen to my body instead of silencing it
- To live anti-inflammatory—in food, thought, and spirit
- To honor rest as much as action
If you’re reading this and thinking, I’m tired, but I’m still standing, please know this:
You are not behind. You are becoming.
Prime Life isn’t something we age into.
It’s something we choose one mindful decision at a time.
A Thoughtful Resource for Women Exploring Fasting
If you’re interested in learning more about fasting and women’s health, one book I’ve found insightful is Fast Like a Girl by Dr. Mindy Pelz.
It’s a helpful resource for women who want to better understand their bodies and make informed, empowered choices.
🎁 BONUS HOLIDAY GIFT: Anti-Inflammatory Christmas Tea Recipe
As a small gift to you this holiday season, here’s a warm, comforting, anti-inflammatory festive tea you can enjoy during Christmas or anytime you want a soothing moment of calm.
Festive Spiced Orange Green Tea (Anti-Inflammatory Holiday Drink)
This holiday tea offers antioxidants and a comforting, aromatic experience perfect for winter evenings.
This recipe makes about 4 servings.
Ingredients:
- 4 cups of water
- 4 green tea bags-organic (or 4 tsp loose-leaf green tea)
- 1 orange, washed (use some zest/peel and slices for infusion and garnish)
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 4 whole cloves
- 2–4 tbsp honey (adjust to taste)
Instructions:
Infuse the Spices:
In a medium saucepan, combine the water, orange zest or a few slices, cinnamon sticks, and whole cloves. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 5–10 minutes to infuse the flavors.
Steep the Tea:
Remove the saucepan from the heat. Add the green tea bags to the pot. Cover and let the tea steep for 3–5 minutes. Be careful not to over-steep the green tea, as it can become bitter.
Sweeten and Finish:
Remove the tea bags and strain the liquid to remove the whole spices and orange pieces. Stir in the honey until completely dissolved.
Serve:
Pour the spiced tea into cups. Garnish each serving with a fresh orange slice or a cinnamon stick for a festive touch.
Enjoy this warm, flavorful HOLIDAY beverage and the gentle reminder to slow down and savor the season.
As we close out 2025, may we carry forward wisdom instead of regret, presence instead of pressure, and the courage to cherish every moment we are given.
Here’s to Embracing Prime Life with intention, compassion, and hope.
